Libra Dates of Birth

The astrologists divide a year is into 12 periods, during each period the sun being in a constellation area. So everyone has a corresponding zodiacal sign according to the period his / her birthday lies in. The 12 signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. People believe that different signs of the zodiac present different characteristics and talents.

The Zodiac sign of Libra represents the placement in the sky where the sun was during the time of birth and, in the case of Libra, influences people who were born between the dates of September 23 - October 23. The Zodiac sign of Libra is ruled by Venus, one of the planets in the Solar system. The planet Venus rules over the gemstone, or birthstone Opal. The Opal has its own unique properties relating to color, crystalline structure, character and abilities. The Opal gemstone, or birthstone assigned to Libra is believed to influence both positive and negative personality traits and characteristics of those born under the astrological sign of Libra.

In astrology, your Virgo Zodiac sign (also called sun sign or star sign) is decided by the position of the sun at the moment of your birth, as seen from Earth. Usually, people born between September 23 and October 23 have Aquarius as their sun sign, because that is the Zodiac sign where the sun was at their birth. But it differs a little from year to year, because of the leap years. The sun takes a year to travel through the twelve Zodiac signs, but it’s not exactly a year of 365 days. The time it takes is closer to 365.25 days. That’s why we have leap years.

Every fourth year we add a day to the calendar, the 29th of February, making that year 366 days. Actually, there’s an additional rule, to make it more precise with the actual movement of earth and the sun: the starting year of a new century is not a leap year, unless it’s evenly divisible by 400. So, 1900 was not a leap year, but 2000 was.

The leap years make the dates of each Zodiac sign change slightly. Normally, Libra starts on September 23 and ends on October 23, but that’s just the mean. In reality it changes slightly in a four year period from one leap year to the next.

If you were born on the 23rd of September or the 23rd of October, you have to check if you’re really a Libra or not. It never differs more than a day in each direction. The start of Libra is on the 22nd or 23rd of September, and the end of it on the 23rd or 24th of October. People born on other dates need not be concerned.

Mixed Zodiac Signs

Now, If you were born on September 23rd at a time when your sun is at the very end of Virgo, you probably have a mixture of Virgo and Libra in your character. If your sun is at the very end of Libra, you may show personality traits of both Libra and Scorpio. Here you can find more about Libra Cusps.

Decans Make a Difference

The strongest is not equal to the most typical, though. A Zodiac sign is its most typical at the part of it (decan) corresponding to its quality: cardinal, fixed or mutable. Each Zodiac sign belongs to one of the four elements fire, earth, air, and water. It’s also one of the three qualities. So, four elements and three qualities make twelve possible combinations - the twelve signs of the Zodiac. There are three posible variation: Libra 1st Decan, Libra 2nd Decan and Libra 3rd Decan.
